The Role
The department is expanding its scope in terms of volume and subspecialisation to meet the needs of the north Queensland community.
The capabilities expected of the role are of a well-trained general neurosurgeon. Independent surgical practice in routine areas of elective, acute and traumatic brain, spine and peripheral nerve surgery is expected. Of most importance is the ability to work as part of a team.
You will undertake outreach outpatient clinics as well as provide outpatient and inpatient care. Air travel to outreach clinics is an expected part of this role.
The hospital is a well-equipped tertiary hospital has an intensive care unit, radiology department with interventional capability, PET scanner, radiation oncology and the full range of Surgical and Medical specialty groups.
Requirements
Applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) or equivalent as an overseas trained specialist who has completed their training in either the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA (ABS certified) or New Zealand.
- 5 years Consultant/Specialist level work experience.
