Exciting Academic Opportunity in Auckland, New Zealand

This is ideal for those who are interested in combining an interesting and forward thinking academic role, with life in a vibrant, multicultural city that offers a relaxed outdoors lifestyle and an ideal climate.

The University of Auckland, New Zealand's preeminent research-led University, and Auckland District Health Board (ADHB) have joined together to appoint an Associate Professor/ Senior Lecturer, in a role designed to further advance already flourishing research in Maternal Fetal Medicine and enhance the existing clinical expertise.

  • Mix of research, teaching and clinical work
  • Competitive remuneration package
  • Relocation support (financial assistance)
  • Support with medical registration and work visa (reimbursement of costs)

The University of Auckland is recognised internationally as a centre of academic excellence and is NZ’s largest University. The prestigious Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology has a long standing track record of undertaking world class clinical and basic science research, especially in MFM, stemming from revolutionary research in the 1970s/80s.

National Women’s Health, Auckland City Hospital (ADHB) is the largest maternity hospital in Australasia and a leading provider of Women’s Health and Level 3 Neonatal services to the Northern part of the North Island of New Zealand, which includes subspecialty services in MFM. ADHB is also the largest of four regional tertiary centres within the National MFM Service Network in NZ. It has a catchment area of approximately 1,000,000 with 7,000 births per annum and 20,000 city-wide across Auckland.

We are therefore seeking an experienced Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist to take up this new and exciting role that brings together these two leading organisations. You will be based in Auckland City Hospital and your time will be split 50% academic and 50% clinical, enabling you to maintain your clinical skills and expertise, whilst further expanding your research portfolio.

To be considered for this role, you must be an obstetrician and gynaecologist with subspecialty qualifications in Maternal Fetal Medicine who is also passionate about research and research-led teaching. Your experience in Maternal Fetal Medicine research should be backed by an appropriate qualification (PhD, MD or equivalent) and the ability to obtain New Zealand medical registration.

This is a truly exciting opportunity to make a real change, working with an extremely supportive team, to shape, develop and contribute to an excellent and vital service.

Full support will be provided by The University of Auckland on medical registration and immigration. Financial and practical relocation assistance will also be provided to successful candidates.
