CONSULTANT MEDICAL HAEMATOLOGY

Haematology Service, Rotorua /Taupo
A new & exciting opportunity - we are seeking a full time Consultant Medical Haematologist to lead the local haematology services. This new role will work closely with the regional service based at Hamilton to provide comprehensive care to outpatient, inpatient and chemotherapy/medical day care patients. Tertiary level support will continue to be provided at Rotorua by the Waikato Medical Oncology and Haematology Department.
The individual needs to be committed, able to work closely with the local resident SMO teams and also with the regional services to foster a learning culture across undergraduate and postgraduate staff. The role will be aligned within Medical Services at Rotorua and will have strong links to Hamilton to maintain professional development and peer support.
Lakes provides Haematology services by the way of visiting tertiary clinicians and a Rotorua located Clinical Nurse Specialist. This role provides the opportunity to redesign the services we provide to our community, provide a local Clinical Expert and improve haematology services to our population.
The beautiful Lakes District of Rotorua and Taupo is well known for its outdoor recreational options including trout fishing, walking tracks, cycling and mountain biking. Lake and river water sports such as boating and kayaking are exceptional. Yet only an hour from the spectacular east coast beaches and Lake Taupo, and with Whakapapa and Turoa ski fields an easy drive away. The candidate must have qualifications that would satisfy the requirements for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand and must have a driver license.
