Located halfway between Orkney & Shetland Mainland, Fair Isle is a beautiful island full of wildlife, cultural heritage and community spirit. It is owned by the National Trust for Scotland and is world famous for its birdlife, traditional crafts and stunning scenery. This island is home to just 60 people and measures one and a half miles wide by three miles long.
There is no doctor on the Island, this is a single-handed residential post with a 24/7 cover requirement, to start from Saturday 5th December until Monday 21st December 2020. You will be the fist point of contact for all islanders, and be confident to assess presenting conditions, making diagnosis and prescribing medication as required. You will need to have the ability to act expediently and appropriately when responding to crisis situations.
- The post holder will be expected to see and treat individuals with minor illnesses and ailments independently without recourse to a medical practitioner and so is required to have advanced clinical assessment skills and a non-medical prescribing qualification
- The post holder will be a Registered General Nurse and will hold relevant specialist District Nursing qualification or ANP
- Registered with the NMC as being a nurse prescriber (essential) or Extended Independent Nurse Prescribing
- UK resident with the ability to start on 5th December 2020
