Locum Consultant in Paediatric Anaesthesia, Scotland
Working with a very high quality Childrens Hospital located in the North-East of Scotland you will join a team of 5 other Paediatric Anaesthetists. This is an NHS locum position for a period of 6 months, working on a salaried basis (possibly on an agency locum basis inside IR35). There may be opportunities to apply for the position on a substantive basis during your contract.
Your duties will predominantly be paediatric anaesthesia but interests in adult anaesthesia could also be accommodated. Anaesthetic support is provided for a range of paediatric surgical specialties, including general surgery (major GI, urology and thoracic cases), orthopaedics, ENT, opthalmology, plastic surgery and maxillofacial surgery. Additionally there is a variable neurosurgical caseload which is accommodated within the unscheduled theatre activitiy. The service is frequently involved in the delivery of critical care to children and there is a 8 bed High Dependency Unit which has capactiy to provide level 3 intensive care for short periods.
The Paediatric Pain Service provides acute and chronic pain support to hospital in and out patients, provided by the Archie Foundation Specialist nursing team. There is a well-established commitment to teaching and research also.
Full GMC registration will be required along with a current license to practise. Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists or equivalent would also be important, along with an Advanced Paediatric Anaesthesia fellowship or equivalent experience.
