Western Isles, Scotland

Regular 1-2-week locum opportunities throughout the year

My client located in Stornoway, Western Isles, has a requirement for an experienced Consultant Radiologist to work on a locum basis. The next requirement are from 15th February and we will consider those who can do 1 or 2 weeks, although longer would be preferred. At present there will be ongoing requirements throughout the year as they do not have a person in the substantive post.

You would be the sole radiologist on site, with out of hours and weekend cover provided by the team at NHS Borders. You will be working 9am to 5pm and have appropriate secretarial support and office accommodation including a computer with access to the NHS network. The Radiology Department is well equipped for routine radiology, CT scanning, ultrasound and Doppler studies.

The Western Isles is located 30 miles off the west coast of Scotland and consists of the many small islands of the Outer Hebrides.  The main populated islands are Lewis and Harris with the second area being the Uists and then the small island of Barra.  All the islands are easily accessible by ferry from Ullapool, Skye and Oban.  Flights are available from Inverness, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen. The Western Isles is an area of outstanding natural beauty and resources for outdoor leisure pursuits including walking, climbing, sailing, fishing and golf are excellent.

You will be paid directly by the hospital on a PAYE basis at a rate of £110hour, return travel expenses from home to the hospital will be reimbursed (upon submission of receipts). Subsidised accommodation is available.

If you would be interested in taking up some work in Stornoway then please get in touch for more information and let me know which dates you are available. GMC registration and a current license to practise is required, along with a current police check, professional references and occupational health clearance. Visa sponsorship will not be possible for short term locums, however if you can commit to a longer period such as 6 or 12 months then this can be discussed.
