We have a unique opportunity for highly motivated, skilled and enthusiastic Junior Consultants in Adult / Women Anaesthesiology.  

Our client, a newly built, ultra-modern clinical and research facility in Qatar, is looking for Junior Consultant Adult / Women Anaesthetists to join its Anaesthesia department in 2017 or 2018.

This inpatient facility will open in the first quarter of 2018.  It's mission is to provide world class maternity care for between 6,000 and 10,000 deliveries per year, as well as full service paediatric sub-specialty care for the children of Qatar. 


The Department of Anaesthesiology will provide an excellence in three primary areas: clinical care, medical education and biomedical research. 

The Anaesthesiology department offers a comprehensive range of routine and advanced anaesthetic, perioperative, pain management, consultative and resuscitative care for women, children and males (as a part of infertility treatment).  The Department of Anaesthesiology will be equipped with state of the art technology in a nearly completely digital hospital environment.  Services will be delivered in accordance with best practice standards as informed by clinical evidence methodologies, in a patient centered, highly collaborative environment.  The department will provide services to the two main clinical areas of Paediatric Anaesthesia and Adult/Obstetric Anaesthesia .  For children we will provide perioperative services in support of patients undergoing general, thoracic, plastic, maxillofacial, orthopaedic, ENT, ophthalmic, cardiac, dental, neurologic and urologic surgery, as well as anaesthesia services for diagnostic and investigative procedures including endoscopy, bronchoscopy and diagnostic and interventional radiology.  Acute pain management services will also be provided and collaboration with the Division of Obstetric Anaesthesia in the support of fetal surgery is anticipated.  Adult/Obstetric services will include obstetric anaesthesia and analgesia and anaesthesia for gynaecological surgery and assisted reproduction.  Support will also be provided for resuscitation services.  

Job Summary

The Consultant Anaesthetist - Adult / Women will be responsible for the provision of high quality evidence-based care for adult patients requiring anaesthesia and perioperative care.  He/She is expected to have a strong base in obstetric anaesthesia and analgesia; prior fellowship training and/or a leadership or training role in obstetric anaesthesia would be an advantage.  The candidate will have the ability to work independently and will have the requisite skills and experience for effectively and efficiently diagnosing, managing, treating all patients placed under the post holder's care within the usual scope of anaesthetic services.  He/She is expected to perform regular daytime duties as well as participating in the after-hours duty roster.  

Qualifications and Experience required

  • MD Degree or equivalent;

  • Completion of a residency program in the specialty area from an accredited Western Board;

  • Board Certification or it's equivalent from an accredited Western Board;

  • 0 - 2 years' experience post certification / residency in clinical care O

  • Obstetric Anaesthesia experience is required;

  • Research, Education or Administration experience;

  • Valid professional license in the country of origin or country of practice in the specialty area;
