Build a fulfilling career in a city that offers a high quality of life on the banks of the St. Lawrence River.

THE OPPORTUNITY. As a full-time Internist in Cornwall, you will play a pivotal role in delivering specialized outpatient care through our most vital clinical streams. The hospital is a modern 185-bed teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Ottawa and Queen’s University, boasting one of the highest levels of health information technology in Ontario. This is an opportunity to practice with high autonomy while benefiting from a multidisciplinary team in a modern environment designed for clinical excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES.

  • Provide specialized consultations within the Geriatric Day Hospital, leading multidisciplinary assessments for older adults to promote mobility, memory, and functional independence.
  • Deliver expert care to patients living with Type 2 diabetes within the Diabetes Education Clinic at minimum three days per month, focusing on long-term wellness and complication prevention.
  • Offer rapid internal medicine assessments for semi-urgent patients at minimum two days per month, ensuring timely clinical intervention and reducing acute service pressure.
  • Maintain a consultative presence within the hospital for acute medicine, utilizing state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging including CT, MRI, and a full cardiopulmonary lab.

PROFESSIONAL PROFILE (COMPETENCIES). Licensure: Must be eligible for registration/licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).

Certification: Fellowship in Internal Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or equivalent recognized international training.

Skills: Demonstrated competency in managing complex chronic conditions and multi-morbidities. Comfort with acute interventions (pacemakers, central lines, and intubation) is highly regarded.

Collaboration: A team-oriented professional who thrives in a multidisciplinary environment alongside nurse practitioners, therapists, and educators.

DISCOVER CORNWALL: A STRATEGIC REGIONAL HUB. Cornwall offers a rare combination of small-town charm and big-city convenience on the scenic St. Lawrence River. Strategically located just minutes from the U.S. border and within a one-hour drive of Ottawa and Montreal, Cornwall ensures unrivalled proximity to major metropolitan amenities. With a local VIA Rail station connecting to the Windsor-Quebec corridor and an extensive waterfront trail system for outdoor recreation, this thriving community of 50,000 is the ideal place to build both a career and a home.

WHY APPLY?

Clinical Sophistication: Practice in a Stage 6 EMR facility that prioritizes evidence-based best practices and academic learning.

Financial Advantage: Competitive fee-for-service potential supplemented by the City of Cornwall’s relocation incentive program.

Lifestyle & Affordability: Live in one of Canada’s most affordable cities, featuring stunning waterfront trails, diverse educational boards, and proximity to major urban hubs like Montreal and Ottawa.

Impact: Join a regional hub where your work directly improves the lives of a growing geriatric population and high-needs diabetic community.
