Head Medical is working with the Tasmanian Health Service to recruit an Infectious Diseases Advanced Trainee / Registrar based at Launceston General Hospital, offering excellent clinical exposure alongside strong teaching and research support.

  • Broad exposure across Infectious Diseases, including inpatient consultation and outpatient clinics
  • Structured training programme with protected teaching time

  • Salary: AUD $138,978 – $194,675 (commensurate with experience)
  • Relocation support
  • 12 month contract commencing 1st February 2027

The Role

This position sits within a well-established Infectious Diseases unit, where you will work as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team which includes four Infectious Diseases Physicians, Microbiologist, 3 Infectious Diseases Pharmacists and Physician trainees.

You will contribute to:

  • Inpatient Infectious Diseases consultations across a wide range of medical and surgical specialties
  • Outpatient clinics, including:
    • General Infectious Diseases
    • Outpatient antimicrobial therapy
    • High-risk foot clinic
    • Tuberculosis services
  • Antimicrobial stewardship activities
  • Supporting infection control services where required
  • Participation in an on-call rota

There is also the opportunity, depending on interest, to gain experience in sexual health and HIV outpatient services.

This is a consultative service, with regular multidisciplinary engagement across specialties including Haematology, Orthopaedics and Intensive Care.

Requirements

  • Eligible for registration with AHPRA via the Competent Authority pathway
  • Experience at Registrar level (or equivalent) in General Medicine / Infectious Diseases
  • Interest in Infectious Diseases essential
  • Current driver’s licence desirable
