We are urgently seeking a Locum Hospitalist - Haematologist / Oncologist for a world-class medical and research center in Qatar. This locum assignment is for 6 months.
You will be working in a brand new, state-of-the-art academic medical center that will function to the highest level of international standards. Its clinical focus is on the specialty care of women and children.
The medical Staff Services Department, Support Services, Department of Paediatrics excels at providing a support system for the Medical Staff and Allied Health Professional Staff. Paediatric Medical Services, headed by the Divisional Chief of Paediatrics, is responsible for all paediatric clinical practice, research and education across the organisation.
The Hospitalist - Haematology / Oncology within the Division of Haematology / Oncology is a Board Certified Physician with clinical training in Paediatrics and advanced training and experience in Paediatric Haematology / Oncology. Under supervision of the Attending Physicians, the Hospitalist provides family-centered medical care services to paediatric and adolescent patients with suspected or confirmed malignancies, other tumours and primary haematologic disorders. The scope of responsibilities includes establishing a diagnosis through the appropriate tests and procedures, treatment of the disease with curative intent where such a treatment exists and providing appropriate palliative and supportive care where such curative therapy is not available. The Hospitalist is expected to collaborate in a multi-disciplinary manner with other services to provide the best care possible.
The Hospitalist - Haematology / Oncology is a health care professional and patient advocate. Additional involvement in academic and quality improvement projects is encouraged and required. Such activities include, but are not restricted to, participation in Nursing and Allied Health education, Resident and Fellow training, contribution to ongoing clinical research projects and/or the development of divisional guidelines or involvement in divisional multi-disciplinary quality improvement projects.
Essential Qualifications and Experience required
- MD Degree or equivalent;
- Board Certification / CCT in General Paediatrics;
- Board Certification in Paediatric Haematology and/or Oncology preferred, or at least one year experience in Paediatric Haematology / Oncology is required;
- An active licence to practice medicine for at least 5 years' in country of origin/training;
- Basic Life Support;
- Excellent communication skills;
