Head Medical is now seeking an experienced Nurse to join our client`s team, a Mauritian private healthcare group, owning and operating the two main private healthcare facilities in Mauritius.
They are currently looking for a Head of Nursing to explore this new area of focus.
Position Description
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the selected candidate will have the responsibility for delivery of quality nursing care to the patients, overall management, supervision and coordination of nursing department, formulation of operational and nursing protocols at the facility.
What you will be doing:
- Responsible for the development and implementation of Nursing Strategy for the business unit aligned with the employers plan
- Responsible to provide our patients with the right medical treatment
- Responsible to ensure the safety of patients from accidental or malevolent harm to their health, privacy and personal security
- Responsible to ensure that the Nursing Team provides attentive and compassionate care towards all patients
- Responsible to ensure the proper clear and honest communication with all patients
- Responsible to ensure that all nursing policies, processes and protocols are simple for all patients
- Responsible for the design and implementation the right nursing organizational structure aligned with the Nursing manpower ratios
- Responsible for maintenance of standard nursing records including admission, treatment and discharge records and nursing dashboard/KPIs
- Maintain and ensure continuous compliance and improvement with Quality accreditation standards and approved safety programs of the hospital
- Develop and implement SOPs for the nursing department to ensure smooth operations
- Prepare and manage budgets of the departments
- Responsible to implement the people engagement strategies to achieve targeted engagement score
What are we looking for?
- Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 5 years of experience in managerial position
- Excellent communication skills
- Has developed and implemented Nursing Strategy for a clinic/hospital with In-Patient Services
- Experienced in leading a team of minimum 50 people
- Discipline Focused & Result oriented
Please note, this is a newly created role for the hospital to head up the fully self managed nursing division. The Head of Nursing will be responsible for defining strategies, implementing the Patient Care Approach and the candidate should be rigorous and disciplined. Wiling to roll up their sleeves and be hands on when needed.
In total the HON will be responsible for 150 nursing staff covering all areas, surgical ward, medical wards, maternity / peads / NICU, Chemo ward, Day and ER/ICU. The candidate can come from any specialist background but experience in ER / ICU will also be beneficial. Patients are mostly local but there are some ex-pats from other local countries.
He / She should have current leadership / management experience but they are open to considering candidates who are at current ward manager level, someone who is a high potential nursing manager looking to move into Head Of Nursing role at the top of their game! The suitable person will be in charge of clinical ward processes / procedures and someone who is willing to grow into the role. They will report directly to the COO.
Other Details
- English and French is widely spoken throughout the island but English is the language of business, therefore the suitable candidate must have excellent English.
- 3 year initial contract
- Smooth process to obtain work permit
- Core hours are Mon - Fri 8.30am - 5pm, some Saturdays which are ½ days.
- Duty on call roster to be confirmed.
