GP with current emergency skills required for a busy clinic 1 ½ hours from Melbourne.
We are looking for a GP to join the team in this popular training practice. It is a very busy practice and the doctors who work there are fully booked days in advance. A vacancy has become available as one of their longstanding doctors has decided to retire, so you will inherit a full patient base.
In order to assist you settle in and get used to working in a new practice, an hourly guarantee of $120 is available for a 2 month period, although it is anticipated that your billings will exceed this quite quickly.
Doctors at the practice are supported by four nurses, three of whom have special interests including chronic disease management, diabetes education and looking after veterans affairs. A pharmacist attends the clinic to conduct medicine reviews and pathology is available on site along with a range of visiting specialist services.
Doctors at the clinic participate in an on call roster at the local hospital three nights a week on a shared roster (approximately 1:8). This attracts additional income (VMO contract). A percentage of billings is offered as follows:
- 65% for an unrestricted GP (MRCGP/FRACGP/FACRRM etc..)
- 67% if you supervise GP registrars
This is a mixed billing practice and doctors work either 10 or 15 minute appointments depending on their personal preference.
The practice is open Monday to Saturday and all doctors also cover Saturday on an equitable basis. They look after a region with a population of 22,000 and the town itself has approximately 6,000 residents. It is a very popular region on the edge of the gorgeous Yarra Valley.

Doctors with procedural skills and recent emergency certification are warmly welcomed, but if your suturing is a bit ‘rusty’ time for up skilling in this area will be made available!
