Cairns, considered the gateway to Australia's Great Barrier Reef, is a city in tropical Far North Queensland. Its Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park tells the stories of indigenous Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with music and dance. Cairns Esplanade, lined in bars and restaurants, has a swimming lagoon. Northwest of the city, Daintree National Park spans mountainous rainforest, gorges and beaches.
Cairns is a popular place to visit, but it's also home to about 150,000 people who enjoy coastal living at its best. With wonderful World Heritage Listed playgrounds close by, quiet streets, fantastic tropical weather, warm waters and relaxed lifestyle it really isn't too hard to guess why people come here on holidays and then end up staying for life.
The majority of children in Cairns attend State Primary and High Schools. These schools offer accessible public education which is high in quality with a broad range of subjects across the curriculum.
The standard of healthcare in Australia is as good, if not better, than anything you'll find in the world. Cairns is no exception with a number of good public and private hospitals in the area.
