The Role
This is a fully accredited general practice, located in an expanding northern suburb of Mackay.

Established in 1991 by two principal doctors, the purpose built surgery is adjacent to a pharmacy. The practice provides a full range of family medical services and consists of one principal doctor and five associate doctors, supported by a practice manager, four registered nurses and one full time and three part time receptionists.

It's fully computerised and staff strive to create a friendly, relaxed environment to work in. This is a teaching practice.

They are now seeking an experienced general practitioner to join them, it's a well-established busy medical practice. Fully accredited with modern medical equipment. Full support from friendly and enthusiastic practice staff including full time RN support.  Remuneration is attractive and consulting hours are flexible.


  • The practice is private billing and bulk bills children and patients over the age of 70.
  • VR GPs are paid 65% of billings which may increase over time
  • $3000 per week minimum guarantee for settling in
  • Contracts are based on working 40 hours per week

Practice opening hours are –
Monday to Friday 8am – 5pm

Drs see minimum of 4 patients per hour however most Drs see more than that. There is no pressure to see a specific number of patients.

They would be able to offer assistance with accommodation and a car for a few weeks on arrival.

It's preferred that you will have MRCGP and JCPTGP/PMETB or equivalent however they will consider Category 2 applicants as supervision is available.

Mackay is a city on the eastern coast of Queensland, Australia, about 600 miles north of Brisbane, with a population of around 75,000.  Mackay is nicknamed the sugar capital of Australia because its region produces more than a third of Australia's cane sugar and is the gateway to the mines producing coal.  The region embraces a relaxed tropical lifestyle at the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. The region offers an incredible diversity of locations and lifestyle from beaches, islands, hinterlands, grain, forests, mountains and lowlands, inner city, outback and everything in between.

The area is well serviced by schools, shopping centres and recreational facilities. The Great Barrier Reef is within easy reach and the Mackay airport has daily flights to Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne as well as other Queensland regional cities.
