The Hospital
The Nelson and Marlborough region has a population of approximately 145,000. There are two main hospitals, Nelson Hospital in Nelson with 140 patient beds and Wairau Hospital in Blenheim with approximately 65 patient beds. You will play an integral part in the team and enjoy the benefits of working with consultants one to one in a smaller hospital environment with several opportunities to develop clinical knowledge and procedural skills.
The Location
This is an incredible region of New Zealand boasting some of the highest sunshine hours (2,438) per year and renowned for its breath-taking natural landscapes, from long golden beaches to rugged mountains and untouched forests.
The town has a number of cafes and restaurants on the sea front where you can enjoy the various artisan foot outlets. You can also enjoy popular walkways along the Taylor River Reserve or conquer the Queen Charlotte track!
The picturesque seaside town of Picton is an easy 30 minute drive and a base for ferries that link the main islands of New Zealand and the heart of the Marlborough Sounds.
Outdoor activities include sea kayaking, sailing, tramping, rafting, fishing, diving, mountain biking, sea swims, walking and skiing. Or take in a moment and enjoy being at one of the many spectacular beaches. In addition to the many world-renowned wineries based throughout the Nelson and Marlborough region, there are boutique breweries. This is certainly a location able to offer a wonderful work/life balance.
