·         Child Health Services, Northland
·         Health New Zealand

The Child Health Services at Te Whatu Ora Te Tai Tokerau Whangarei are seeking a Paediatrician to join the team in a fixed-term capacity. This is a fixed-term role to cover parental leave and is anticipated to end March 2024.

The Paediatrician alongside colleagues will have an overview of and a responsibility for providing, comprehensive child health services in Northland.  This includes an involvement in the entire spectrum of child health care (from primary to tertiary) in the family context.

Whangārei serves a growing population of over 190,000 with high levels of deprivation and more than 2000 births per year.  The paediatric service is based in a purpose-built Child Health Centre which houses a range of professionals including a developmental team. We have a dedicated children’s ward; level II SCBU, ICU and a comprehensive range of diagnostic services.  The population is thinly spread over a wide geographic area; in addition to regular outreach clinics, the service is works closely with the ICU/transport team.  There is a wide range of outreach subspecialty clinics from Starship Children’s Hospital, providing high quality shared care and opportunities for professional development.

The subtropical Northland region stretches upwards from Auckland to the very top of NZ covering an area of 12,600 square kilometres with a growing population of more than 190,000. Northland is a story of two coastlines – the west coast is rugged and soulful while the east coast is relatively more sophisticated and urbane. Boasting some of the most scenic and exciting seaside areas in the country, there is a range of popular attractions and recreational activities. We are also a two-hour drive or 25-minute flight from the international hub of Auckland.

To be considered you must have or be eligible for Locum Tenens registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand in a Paediatrics scope of practice. This means Specialists who hold UK or Ireland CCT, American Board Certification, Canadian Fellowship, or Australasian Fellowship are eligible to apply.

If you are interested in this position, please apply online and attach an up to date copy of your CV for consideration.
