Endocrinology and Diabetes / General Physician

The Bay of Plenty region has experienced rapid population growth over the past five years and our health service is investing in roles to meet the health needs of our people. One of the key areas of service growth is Endocrinology services and we are now recruiting for a fourth Endocrinologist/ General Physician to join our team.

At the heart of our services are our CARE values – Compassion, All One Team, Responsiveness and Excellence and our commitment to our Te Toi Ahorangi vision of delivering services that are equitable and support improved health outcomes for Māori. To meet this vision the ideal candidate will have experience in working in a culturally diverse setting and proven skills in contributing to services which have evolved to meet the needs of patients, whānau/family and the wider community through an integrated service model of care.   In particular, we want to further develop our Diabetes services, especially across the Eastern Bay of Plenty, and support the development of innovative service designs to cater for the need of our communities with particular focus on Māori.

The Medical Service has established Physician roles to ensure manageable workloads between acute and specialist practice responsibilities. In addition, we are continuing to build a specialist multidisciplinary model of care which includes specialist nurses and allied health professionals.

We seek an individual who has the skills to foster a learning culture across undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff, with the support of the Bay of Plenty clinical school and the University of Auckland. The school also provides clinical research opportunities.

Our team actively encourage work life balance and the Bay of Plenty is ideally situated for those who like to work, rest and play – beautiful beaches, stunning scenery, excellent schools and a vibrant social city culture.
