Emergency Medicine Specialist - Adult ED

  • x3 vacancies for permanent full time positions (1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week)
  • Generous CME allowance and 6 weeks annual leave

Our client is the largest Hospital in New Zealand, providing secondary and tertiary care to patients from around the country and Pacific Islands.

The Adult Emergency Department (AED) is one of two major trauma centres serving the Auckland region. The hospital serves a population of approximately 500,000 and provides specialised treatment for patients from other centres in New Zealand and the Pacific region. AED sees only adults and approximately 80,000 patients a year, with a high index of disease severity.

AED has an excellent faculty with expertise in resuscitation and trauma, disaster and pre-hospital medicine, the helicopter emergency medical services, research, and clinical toxicology. We are accredited by the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine for Emergency Medicine training. We are affiliated with the Auckland University Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education.

We are actively involved in clinical and university based teaching and is currently involved in a number of key national and international research projects.

We have 3 permanent full time positions available working 40 hours per week (1.0 FTE).

As an ideal candidate for this role:

  • You require vocational registration or be eligible for vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council and be a Fellow of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine or an equivalent overseas institution
  • Have a minimum of 4 years’ experience in Emergency Medicine and you are looking to advance and acquire new skills
