We are seeking a Psychiatrist for an exciting Director Clinical Services Mental Health role for the Mid West Region of Western Australia.

The Role
Be part of the massive change taking place in the Midwest region of WA.  As the Director Clinical Services, you will be responsible, in partnership with the Regional Manager Mental Health and Community Alcohol and Drug Service (MH&CADS) for the Strategic development, coordination, integration, monitoring and evaluation of the MH&CADS.

The Geraldton Health Campus redevelopment will include a new Emergency Department, as well as an Authorised Psychiatric Unit and short stay unit – providing a fully integrated community mental health service. Not only will you be part of an Operational Readiness Team to deliver this for 2024, you will also be involved in many other exciting projects.  You will be supporting and promoting the vision and strategic direction of the MH&CADS through an exciting period of growth and expansion in mental health services. 

Requirements
Applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP).

The Health Service
The facility is a 100 bed hospital, currently undergoing redevelopment including significant expansion of the emergency department and provision for an Integrated Mental Health Unit and Intensive Care/High Dependency Unit. It is a referral centre for the entire region with a very busy Emergency Department and Medical Department. Other towns in the region have small hospitals with service provided by GPs in private practice.

Midwest Mental Health and Alcohol and Drug Services (MMH&CADS) is a skilled and dynamic team drawing on a wide range of experience and background to reflect diversity in cultural, consumer, peer and clinical perspectives to undertake a range of functions which enable and support MH and alcohol and other drugs service delivery in the Midwest region and ensure accountability for service provision.

MMH&CADS have multi -disciplinary teams who provide high quality mental health and alcohol and drug services. The main office is located on the Geraldton Health Campus, with teams located in Carnarvon and Meekatharra, and provide outreach to surrounding areas. The service has the following teams: Adult and Older Adult, CAMHS, Aboriginal Mental Health, Safety and Quality and are currently developing a Consultation Liaison Team at Geraldton Hospital to be led by a Consultant Psychiatrist.

The Area
Geraldton is situated in the Midwest Region of the State and is an attractive seaside community 260m (420km) north of the State's capital, Perth. It’s a 45 minute flight from Perth. There’s some beautiful sights along the way; pristine beaches, national parks and carpets of wildflowers.

There is a wide range of sporting and recreational activities available in the Midwest, with popular outdoor recreational activities including fishing, camping, bird and wildflower watching, four-wheel driving, mountain biking, windsurfing and boating. A variety of sporting activities including hockey, football, cricket, netball, basketball, rugby, swimming, skateboarding, golf, athletics, lawn bowls, equestrian, cycling, motor cross, shooting, soccer, softball, tennis and water polo are available. Sport in the region is supported by a dedicated sports administration centre. Other recreational pursuits such as walking, arts and crafts, dance, music, theatre and performing arts are also well supported.

With marina-living available on the waterfront, semi-rural acreages for hobby farmers or new housing estates, there is variety of lifestyle options to suit your needs. The area is known for its sailing, kite, wind and wave surfing, and is home to some of the best diving sights along the WA coastline.
