We are seeking a Director of Clinical Services, Mental Health for a service in for a service based out of a beautiful seaside town in Western Australia.

The job
Your duties are across three main contexts: clinical, leadership and clinical governance. You will manage a team of 2 Consultant Psychiatrists and a middle grade doctor. As well, you will likely provide supervision to a psychiatry trainee in a community and general ward setting. You will work well with all internal and external stakeholders to deliver first class care to a region that has a catchment population of approx. 65k
The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is the largest in Australia and one of the biggest in the world, delivering comprehensive health care to more than 540,000 people including 49,000 Aboriginal people across a 2.5 million square kilometre area. Geraldton sits in the Midwest region of WACHS.
To be considered for this position, if you do not have FRANZCP, you must have a minimum of 3 years work experience as a Consultant/Specialist Psychiatrist and have completed your specialist training in a comparable country of medical training to Australia being either UK, Ireland, New Zealand, USA or Canada. Further, you must have completed a formal post of child and youth psychiatry or learning disability of at least six months in your basic or advanced training. These are RANZCP requirements to allow you to work in Australia at Consultant level.
Naturally, applicants with management experience will be highly considered.

I visited Geraldton most recently in 2016. I flew there from Perth and it took 45minutes. It is situated in the Midwest Region of the State and is a pretty coastal town some 260m (420km) south of the State's capital. You can also drive to Perth along the Indian Ocean Drive, a beautiful contemporary highway. There’s some beautiful sights along the way; pristine beaches, national parks and carpets of wildflowers. With a 'Mediterranean' climate, winter averages a mild 20 degrees celsius with some rainfall, while summer averages 32 degrees with some days over 40 degrees celsius, but being a coastal location they experience nice afternoon sea breezes.
With marina-living right on the waterfront, semi-rural acreages for hobby farmers or new housing estates, there is variety of lifestyle options to suit your needs. It is a major resources export port and the town has grown affluent during recent years. Geraldton is known for its sailing, kite, wind and wave surfing, and is home to some of the best diving sights along the WA coastline.
