We're seeking a Consultant/ Staff Specialist in Infectious Diseases to be based in Rockhampton, Central Queensland - a regional city which offers an ideal lifestyle and is the southern gateway to the Great Barrier Reef.

The Role and Hospital
The successful candidate will provide direct high-quality care to clients with infectious diseases (including HIV/AIDS, Hep B and C and Tuberculosis) in both acute and non-acute service settings. You will work within an inter-professional Blood Borne Virus and Sexual Health service, Hospital in the Home (HiTH), Specialist Outpatient service and provide inpatient consultancy of these and other infectious diseases at the Rockhampton Hospital.

Rockhampton Hospital (305 bed) is the main referral hospital for the Central Queensland region, which now also provides integrated cancer care services in the newly established building boasting state of the art medical equipment. In addition, there are smaller satellite hospitals in the region who will transfer patients through to Rockhampton as required.

The Department of Medicine has 32 allocated medical beds. Development and implementation of Outreach services to other hospitals within the region is planned.

The Hospital enjoys close links with the University of Queensland and the Central Queensland Rural Clinical School and culturally, there is an emphasis on medical education across the board for all professional disciplines.

Requirements
You will hold Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent, and will be registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a specialist in Infectious Diseases. If you are an International Medical Graduate and have already been assessed by the RACP as "substantially comparable" in Infectious Diseases, this will be viewed favourably.

Brisbane is just a short 1 hour flight from Rockhampton’s local airport.
