The Role and Hospital
The Emergency Department is varied with approximately 20,000 presentations per year of which 10-15% of cases are Paediatrics. There is a 25% admission rate. The ED workforce is staffed with Senior, Permanent and Casual CMOs.

This position has allocated Clinical Support Time, provides education and training to the medical staff within the Emergency Department and assists with the overall management of the medical aspects of the Department. A substantial part of the role is providing direct clinical care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department.

The hospital currently has 100 acute medical, surgical, intensive care and psychiatric beds, however work has started on a $120 million redevelopment project. This will see the building of a new four-storey building housing an emergency department, medical imaging, a maternity and birthing unit, special care nursery and paediatrics inpatient unit, rehabilitation/geriatric evaluation management unit, inpatient surgical, perioperative, intensive care, medical and palliative care units and ambulance bays.

Requirements
Applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) or equivalent as an overseas trained specialist who has completed their training in either the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA or New Zealand.
