Consultant Radiologist with an interest in Breast Imaging - Channel Islands (non NHS post)

An interesting opportunity is now available for a Consultant Radiologist to join the team working from the beautiful sunny island of Guernsey. Due to retirement a substantive post is available for a GMC Specialist Registered doctor with a special interest in breast imaging. Wide ranging clinical radiology experience is also required and you will be employed on a 10 PA contract.

Guernsey is the second largest of the Channel Islands with an independent jurisdiction comprising the island of Guernsey, Alderney, Sark and Herm. It is located less than an hours flying time from London, and sits 20 miles off the west coast of France. There are direct air links to several UK destinations and a high-speed ferry. As one of the most southerly islands of the British Isles, Guernseys climate is temperate with mild winters and warm, dry, sunny summers (an average of 7.5 hours of sunshine per day from May to September).

Working at a 200 bed hospital you will have a short commute to work (the maximum is around 20 minutes) and sit within a team of 5 Consultants, supported by a full ancillary team. As a department you will provide an effective diagnostic imaging service, with responsibility for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of illness, and the proper functioning of the department. The Radiology Department was purpose built in 1991, and now has full digital breast imaging, which is provided in a dedicated breast services unit that was opened in October 2013. You will be working closely with a local surgeon with sub-specialty interest in breast and oncoplastic surgery, and a consultant nurse specialist in breast care. This post will include out of hours work as part of a 1 in 5 on call rota, you will be on call from home. Between the hours of 8pm and 8am the service is covered by an external teleradiology company so night cover is not required.  There is a private wing within the hospital and provision is made within the Radiology department for the examination of private in-patients and out-patients electing for private care.

An excellent salary is on offer (up to £108,502 basic annual salary) along with a great relocation package, and a very favourable tax regime exists in the Channel Islands also. You will hold full GMC registration (with a license to practise) and be on the specialist register as a radiologist (those who are due to achieve CCT please get in touch to discuss your experience). Please contact Karen Diamond in confidence for further details and to receive a full job description.
