Consultant Physician in Respiratory & General Medicine - Dumfries & Galloway
A fantastic opportunity is now available for a Consultant Physician in Respiratory & General Medicine to work in beautiful Dumfries & Galloway. The successful candidate will become a part of the friendly, multi-disciplinary respiratory team and will share responsibility for the care of patients in the Respiratory Unit.
Services provided will include; management of airway diseases (from acute ventilatory failure through to pulmonary rehabilitation), parenchymal lung diseases, lung cancer (with One-Stop clinics for rapid assessment), cystic fibrosis (shared care with Glasgow and Edinburgh) and sleep medicine, together with a home non-invasive ventilation service. Acute non-invasive ventilatory support is delivered within a well-developed critical care unit, enjoying close links with a supportive critical care team.
The consultant job plan is flexible and open to negotiation on appointment, being up to a 12PA contract depending on duties covered. The balance between direct clinical care and supporting professional activities to be discussed and agreed with the successful applicant. Additional EPAs may be offered on appointment for participation in the General Medical on-call rota. This is an exciting time to be joining the respiratory team, as developments and reconfiguration continue in the new District General Hospital boasting state of the art facilities and nice consultant office space, and the successful applicant will have the opportunity to contribute to this process.
The hospital is set within stunning landscapes and surrounding housing costs remain affordable with excellent schools and low crime rates. It is well located for access to Scottish cities such as Glasgow and Edinburgh and is a short drive from Carlisle in the north of England.
This job is full time however we are open to hearing from those unable to work full time. Salary will follow NHS pay scales. Applicant must be GMC registered with a licence to practice and on the specialist register.
