We’re seeking a Community and General Paediatrician to join the Woman, Child and Family Service at Whakatane Hospital (110-bed, catchment 50,000), just 1 hour’s drive from Tauranga city, in the stunning Bay of Plenty region.

You will join a dynamic team of clinical staff covering ambulatory, developmental and community paediatrics acute and general services; level 2 neonatal service; local Child Development service (Te Koru); Voyagers Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service; which also has excellent links to tertiary services.
The team works closely with local community groups and GPs to provide a holistic service, as a high proportion of the population have high health needs, especially Maori. They participate in many weekly CPD activities Resuscitation scenarios, X-ray, Challenging cases & Study evenings. They also provide Telepaediatric links to distant clinics.
They are looking for a Paediatrician who is dedicated to making a real difference.
You will, therefore, possess broad specialist experience in General Paediatrics and a sound understanding of contemporary models of care.
You will also have proven leadership skills and experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment; an interest in medical education and teaching, including providing supervision and education to medical students, registrars and other clinical staff; and of course, a commitment to contributing to ongoing quality improvement programmes.
You will be comfortable both in working in a multicultural workforce, and being based in a semi-rural coastal community rich in culture and diversity.

Ideally, you will hold FRACP and full Vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).
If not NZ trained or based, you will hold equivalent specialist qualifications from either the UK (via CCT), Ireland (via CCT), Australia, Canada or USA that will enable Provisional Vocational (long term) registration or Locum Tenens (short term up to 12 months) registration.
