Consultant Paediatric Haematologist required for Alder Hey, a leading children’s hospital.
Head Medical are excited to present this amazing opportunity for a Consultant Paediatric Haematologist to work in one of the largest children’s hospitals in Europe.
Alder Hey cares for over 275,000 children, young people and their families a year. Alder Hey treat everything from common illnesses to highly complex and specialist conditions.
This new and exciting opportunity will allow the successful Doctor to work in a leading tertiary referral Haematology and Oncology department which offers full clinical care and laboratory diagnostics for leukaemia, regional haemophilia comprehensive care and a regional haemoglobinopathy service.
The Haematology-Oncology department is within an award-winning purpose-built ‘Hospital in the Park’ which consists of an outpatient clinic, a 6 bedded Day Case Unit, a 16 bedded inpatient ward including 2 HEPA filtered isolation cubicles and a Teenage Cancer Trust unit with two-day case and 4 inpatient beds. All departments within Pathology are accredited with CPA (UK).
The successful Doctor will join a unit that is a recognised Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre with early phase studies supported by a dedicated NIHR Clinical Research Facility for children. The job will offer the Doctor excellent research support and facilities within the on-site University of Liverpool Institute of Child Health.
The successful Doctor would be expected to take on a full role in the leukaemia and non-malignant haematology clinical and laboratory service and will be encouraged to develop their own specialist area of interest.
To be eligible for this role you must:
- Hold or be eligible for GMC Specialist Registration (or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview).
- Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a recognised training post for Haematology and a minimum of 12 months full time training in Paediatric Haematology.
- Experience of Paediatric Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation.
- Have MRCPCH or MRCP (or equivalent).
- Have FRCPath (Haematology) or equivalent.
Although this role is full time at 10 PA’s we are open to discussing part time options and fully welcome international applicants who require a visa. This job is subject to a police check. Basic Salary will follow NHS pay scales from £78,521 up to £105,042 depending on experience.
