Consultant Ophthalmologist – Permanent Opportunity in the Scottish Borders
An experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist is required to join an excellent hospital located in the stunning Scottish Borders. With Edinburgh just an hour’s drive away and access to fantastic amenities including beautiful golf courses and walking routes, this is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a tremendous work/life balance.
As a Consultant Ophthalmologist you will work within the Ophthalmology Department and provide general, specialist and surgical care to the patients from the local catchment area. Full support is provided by a dedicated nursing team who provide general support of clinics, a nurse led glaucoma clinic, visual field clinics, pre-assessment and biometry clinics and provide OCT examination. They also accompany surgical patients to Theatre. Orthoptists provide orthoptic services to children and adults and run a screening programme for pre-school children.
You will be required to provide a general Ophthalmology Service, along with three consultant colleagues. A special interest to complement those of the other Consultants will be encouraged, but a broad range of skills and abilities is essential, including dealing with paediatric referrals.
This is ideally a full time post (10 programmed activities per week), however consideration will be given to people seeing part time hours also, please get in touch to discuss your individual requirements.
