We are seeking a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist to become part of an enthusiastic, hardworking team of health workers providing a modern and innovative approach to healthcare at the District Health Board.
- Due to the supervision requirements to work as a specialist, this position requires you to be eligible to register via Locum Tenens with Medical Council of New Zealand, meaning you should hold FRANZCOG (or equivalent, e.g. FRCOG with CCT).

This position is located at Wairarapa Hospital, where gynaecology and secondary level obstetric services are provided. There is an average of 600 births per annum. Tertiary hospital services, including delivery of premature labours below 34 weeks is provided by Wellington hospital. Whilst the Gynaecology service is general in nature there may be the opportunity to develop special areas of interest. There is the opportunity to develop a private practice.
This is a full time or part time position, with a 1:3 on call cover. Innovative rostering options can be developed to suit individual preferences whilst maintaining the requisite level of cover.
Wairarapa Hospital is based in Masterton, and is within two hours from both Hutt Hospital and Wellington Hospital. There is good connectivity between Wairarapa and the Wellington region with rail and ferry transport as well as the airport.
Wairarapa District Health Board provides secondary services for a population of approximately 40,000, providing 24-hour acute and elective care in general and orthopaedic surgery, medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, psychiatry, and paediatrics. The hospital operates both Public & Private theatre sessions covering General Surgery, Anaesthetics, Orthopaedics, Urology, Endoscopy, Gynaecology, and Obstetrics, as well as Ophthalmic and ENT.
