This hospital is a brand new, world class facility which services a population of 300,000 people.

 

The hospital, service and city will reward and provides an exceptional opportunity for an overseas trained physician to develop  Australian experience or a FRACP (or imminent) seeking a different context.

 

Both of its new inpatient Medical units - both acute and subacute - are now together in the same facility.

 

In this consultant/specialist position you will have full responsibility for patients and be the clinical team lead supporting and guiding your group to provide first class care.

 

Other responsibilities include participating in post grad medical training, in particular working with the advanced trainees in rehab medicine; under grad teaching and organisational (please contact me for more details).

 

The Inpatient Unit is a MDT that cares for patients admitted for GEM who have chronic or complex conditions associated with aging, cognitive dysfunction, chronic illness or disability. The client group are predominantly, but not limited to older people with a primary treatment goal of maximising health status and optimising living arrangements.

 

The Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit is a 60-bed unit with expertise in amputee, stroke, acquired brain injury, orthopaedic and other disabilities, and management of geriatric conditions.

 

You will be a Consultant in rehab medicine with at least 3 years experience at this level and have completed your training - if not in Australia - in a comparable country of training such as UK, Ireland, NZ, Canada or USA.

 

Overseas trained physicians who have their RACP outcome or are in the process of completing their  RACP application are encouraged to apply.

 

This position and location would suit families, couples or singles alike. The city has superb schools and sporting facilities. It has a financial services industry and also serves as a large mining and agricultural centre. Only a short driving distance to a world class city and its amenities adds further attraction to this position.
