The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Paediatric Anaesthetist to work in the Department of Anaesthesia in The Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network - Westmead, a world class organisation that provides quality care and clinical services to 80,000 sick and injured children each year. You will provide anaesthetic and acute pain clinical services as required, with a focus on delivering excellent clinical care to children and supporting their families. You will be part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team providing excellent, world-class anaesthetic services and acute pain management to the paediatric population of New South Wales.
Clinically, you will have recent significant experience in paediatric and neonatal anaesthesia and acute pain management at Consultant level in a tertiary paediatric institution.
The Hospital
Established in 2010, The Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN) brings together The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick - the two tertiary and quaternary children’s hospitals in metropolitan Sydney. Bear Cottage, the children’s hospice at Manly, Newborn and Paediatric Emergency Transport Service (NETS) and NSW Pregnancy and Newborn Services Network (PSN) are part of the Network’s remit.
The formation of the Network creates an entity with formidable research and education expertise in child health. It attracts millions of dollars in competitive research funding each year and works collaboratively nationally and internationally to improve paediatric care worldwide. The clinical expertise, community education, advocacy for improved child health and ground-breaking research into childhood illnesses combine to make The Children’s Hospital at Westmead a world-class institution. There may also be the potential for an academic appointment once appointed.
