Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry – Central Scotland
An excellent opportunity is available for a Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry to join an NHS trust located in central Scotland. This is a substantive post and the salary will be on the NHS Scotland pay scale. You will be working with a well-established Community Mental Heath Team for Older Adults (CMHT OA) in a region with approximately 12,000 older people.
You will be responsible for the comprehensive mental health care of patients within the catchment area, supported by the well-developed CMHT OA and Care Home Liaison services. There is a Consultant led Acute Hospital liaison team for older people and an integrated admission ward run by Ageing & Health medicine with mental health support. The current on call rota is 1:5 and you will be part of this.
Central Scotland is a fantastic location to settle, you will be working less than 30 minutes from Glasgow city, and under an hour from Edinburgh city. You have the choice to live in a populated area or in a more rural location with beautiful properties and plenty of space. Scotland offers excellent options for children’s education and a free university education also.
Broad general psychiatry experience is required with specialty training in Old Age Psychiatry. You will hold MRCPsych or equivalent and hold GMC Specialist Registration (or be eligible for this within 6 months).
