We are seeking a Consultant in General Medicine in a regional teaching hospital in Geraldton, Western Australia.
The Hospital has 66 beds for acute medical, surgical, paediatric and maternity patients, and a 24 hour Emergency Department.
The coastal setting and the ocean views make this is an ideal spot to settle into the relaxed Australian lifestyle with the family. The beach is just a 5 minute walk from the hospital.

The Role
As a General Physician joining a team of three other physicians, you will provide specialist expertise in the Department of Medicine, which includes the oversight and management of both inpatients and outpatients, including direct clinical care of patients in acute care and the High Dependency Unit, as well as taking referrals from other clinicians within the region. With your proven knowledge and experience in current developments within general medicine, you will also have an interest in medical education and have a willingness to be involved in and implement training programmes for junior medical staff and medical students.
You will hold FRACP or equivalent, and be registered - or eligible for registration - with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA) as a specialist in General Medicine. Ideally, if you hold an equivalent qualification, you will already have been assessed by RACP as being "substantially comparable" in General Medicine.
Location
Geraldton, situated in the Midwest Region of the State is a lovely coastal town some 260m (420km) south of the State's capital, Perth. It’s a 45 minutes flight from Perth, or drive The Indian Ocean Drive, a relatively new highway opened in late 2010, taking it as quickly or as slowly as your time allows (4.5 hours to 4 days with side excursions). There’s some beautiful sights along the way; pristine beaches, national parks and carpets of wildflowers.
With a 'Mediterranean' climate, winter averages a mild 20 degrees celsius with some rainfall, while summer averages 32 degrees with some days over 40 degrees celsius, but being a coastal location they experience nice afternoon sea breezes.
With spectacular ocean views to wake up to every morning it is little wonder why people choose to relocate to the coastal idyll that is Geraldton. With marina-living right on the waterfront, semi-rural acreages for hobby farmers or new housing estates, there is variety of lifestyle options to suit your needs. It is a major minerals port and the town has grown affluent during the mining boom, as a result.
Geraldton is known for its sailing, kite, wind and wave surfing, and is home to some of the best diving sights along the WA coastline.
