Location
Geraldton, situated in the Midwest Region of the State is a lovely coastal town some 260m (420km) south of the State's capital, Perth. It’s a 45 minutes flight from Perth, or drive The Indian Ocean Drive, a relatively new highway opened in late 2010, taking it as quickly or as slowly as your time allows (4.5 hours to 4 days with side excursions). There’s some beautiful sights along the way; pristine beaches, national parks and carpets of wildflowers. With a 'Mediterranean' climate, winter averages a mild 20 degrees celsius with some rainfall, while summer averages 32 degrees with some days over 40 degrees celsius, but being a coastal location they experience nice afternoon sea breezes.
With marina-living right on the waterfront, semi-rural acreages for hobby farmers or new housing estates, there is variety of lifestyle options to suit your needs. It is a major minerals port and the town has grown affluent during the mining boom, as a result. Geraldton is known for its sailing, kite, wind and wave surfing, and is home to some of the best diving sights along the WA coastline.
With spectacular ocean views to wake up to every morning it is little wonder why people choose to relocate to the coastal idyll that is Geraldton.
