Head Medical are recruiting for a Consultant in Diabetes & Endocrinology to work at Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary, serving a scattered population of approximately 148,000 in South West Scotland.
The position is expected to offer the Consultant the opportunity to work closely with excellent GPs and play a major role in the delivery of a full range of diabetes care in the region. It is hoped this additional resource will allow the delivery of in-patient diabetes services to be enhanced. The successful candidate will be joining a team which comprises of three Consultants, a Speciality Doctor, a rotating middle grader, 2.5 (wte) diabetes specialist nurses, 3.5 community diabetes specialist nurses and 4 specialist dieticians to assist in further developing an established and progressive multidisciplinary service. You will be expected to participate in acute medical receiving.
The region has a Managed Clinical Network for Diabetes and medical students rotate regularly from Glasgow and Edinburgh through the unit. The medical unit includes an 18 bedded critical care unit and a 40 bed Medical Admission Unit. A full range of diabetes services is provided including; DAFNE and DESMOND education programmes, an insulin pump service, a multidisciplinary foot clinic, a multidisciplinary ANC clinic, a combined renal diabetes clinic and transitional diabetes service as well as Weekly Endocrine clinics being held and supported by nurse-lead endocrine testing.
To be considered for this post you must hold registration with the General Medical Council and be on the Specialist registration (or within 12 months of achieving this). Salary will follow NHS scales and be from £84,984 up to £112,925 dependent on experience. This job is subject to a police check.
