In Australia Addictions Medicine is often managed by either a Physician or a Psychiatrist. This position is also open to either speciality.
You will either be a Physician with at least 6 years experience in Addictions Medicine or a Psychiatrist with same and subspecialty qualifications in Addiction Medicine.
Either way, you will be tasked with delivering first class care and clinical leadership alcohol and drug best practise, service development, clinical governance, consultant liaison support to the hospital and health service, community and primary care stakeholders in the city and the Northern Territory.
You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and other staff to improve health outcomes for patients. You will also play an important role in shaping policy in the areas of health protection, prevention and health promotion for residents of the Northern Territory.
You will have a minimum of six years full-time service in medical practice as a Consultant/Specialist, and be either a Fellow of the Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine or holder of a Certificate in Addiction Psychiatry through RANZCP or equivalent international qualifications.
You will have extensive knowledge, including clinical experience, of contemporary Alcohol and Drug treatment practice, systems and protocols, clinical governance and quality improvement measures.
