Live and Work in West Wales  - Locum Consultant Haematologist required




This is a Locum Consultant Haematologist post and has been created following the redesign of Haematology services across the Health Board and will be for 6-12 months.  The post will involve working at Glangwili General Hospital to deliver speciality clinics and will deliver services to the population of Carmarthenshire . Office accommodation, secretarial support and full IT facilities including access to intranet and internet will be provided.

The Haematology service currently provides haemato-oncology and general haematology services across 4 hospital sites. There are 6 consultants in post, 2 of whom are part time. Support for the post includes Staff and Associate Specialists as well as foundation trainees. Each of the sites provides out-patient chemotherapy and works in close liaison with the centres in Cardiff and Vale and Abertawe BroMorgannwg University Heath Boards.

Wales has a developed a haematology community which includes all the consultants in all the hospitals who work closely together to deliver the service for the total population of the country. There are a number regional sub-speciality MDTs which support decision making the delivery of patient care.

As a senior employee of the Health Board the post holder will work in close co-operation with other medical professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Health Board’s patients and provide a service in Haematology, supporting the development of sub-speciality interest to the hospitals and community so designated with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness.
