We are seeking a Consultant in Emergency Medicine for a friendly team in a regional hospital in Geraldton, Western Australia.
The Hospital has 66 beds for acute medical, surgical, paediatric and maternity patients, and a 24 hour Emergency Department.
The coastal setting and the ocean views make this is an ideal spot to settle into the relaxed Australian lifestyle with the family.
The beach is just a 5 minute walk from the hospital.

- Busy ED with approx 30,000 presentations pa, with an admission rate of 20-30% paediatric load
- Competitive package up to AUD$400,223 pa depending on experience
- Plus study leave and relocation assistance
- Ideally you will hold (or be close to holding) FACEM
- With no ICU or Mental Health Unit, you must be skilled in managing critical care patients for extended periods
The Role
Geraldton hospital is a teaching hospital and the ED is one of the busiest in the WA Country Health Service, with a considerable number of high acuity and trauma patients presenting to the department.
With your proven knowledge and experience in current developments within emergency medicine, you will also have an interest in medical education and have a willingness to be involved in and implement training programmes for junior medical staff and medical students.
You will hold Fellowship of the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (FACEM) or equivalent, e.g. FRCEM, and be registered or eligible for registration with AHPRA as a specialist in Emergency Medicine. If you are an overseas trained physician and you have already been assessed by ACEM as "substantially comparable", such applications will be viewed favourably.

Geraldton, situated in the Midwest Region of the State is a lovely coastal town some 260m (420km) south of the State's capital, Perth. Locals describe the climate as 'Mediterranean ' and the surface temperature of the sea often exceeds 25 degrees Celsius. Geraldton offers beachside living alongside a fantastic civic and rural context. It is a major minerals port and the town has grown affluent during the mining boom. Geraldton is famous for its sailing, kite, wind and wave surfing. Culturally it is a major centre of aboriginal art and heritage.
The West Australian Country Health Service is the largest in Australia and one of the biggest in the world, delivering comprehensive health care to more than 540,000 people including 49,000 Aboriginal people across a 2.5 million square kilometre area.
