The Hospital and Role

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital a 311 bed, acute care teaching hospital that provides inpatient, outpatient, emergency and mental health services to a population of more than 250,000 people, primarily in Adelaide’s western suburbs.

Depending on individual experience and ability, and following discussion with Directors, there will be the potential to assist in the provision of other Department clinical services, specifically hyperbaric medicine or pain management medicine.  Proven experience in administrative services of acute pain services would be advantageous.

The Area

Adelaide is consistently 10 of the Economist’s world’s most liveable cities (currently number 5) and is the capital of the state of South Australia with a population of over 1.3 million people (the country’s 5th largest city.).  

Established as a British province and very British in terms of culture, Adelaide has expanded its multicultural mix in great proportions over the last couple decades. Approximately one quarter of people living in Australia were born overseas.

With 3 Universities it has a busy, cosmopolitan city centre. Beautiful beaches on your doorstep mean you can swim with dolphins and learn to sail at Glenelg, one of the city’s best beaches which is lined with cafes and restaurants. Be a regular visitor to the famous McLaren Vale wine region and enjoy all the benefits of living in a Mediterranean climate surrounded by the Adelaide’s beautiful rolling green hills.

The weather is moderate with year-round blue skies mean average winter temperatures of 16°C and 28°C in summer.
