The role

You will demonstrate professional expertise in Anaesthesia & Pain Management Services, including: good clinical skills, appropriate management skills, an ability to cope with stress, and high motivation.

Preferred, but not essential, is recent clinical experience in RMH specialty areas such as cardiac, neurosurgery, trauma, & pain medicine.


The Hospital & Department

The Royal Melbourne Hospital is an integral part of Melbourne Health, Victoria’s second largest public health service, employing over 8,900 staff and managing over 1,400 beds.

The Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Management provides a 24-hour perioperative service encompassing:

• Preanaesthesia assessment

• Intraoperative anaesthesia and physiologic monitoring

• Anaesthesia for areas outside of the operating suite

• Trauma management

• Resuscitation

• Pain services

• Malignant hyperpyrexia testing

• Allergy testing for anaesthesia drugs
