The opportunity

With 8 theatres in Albury and 4 in Wodonga, the anaesthetic team consists of 3 Staff Specialists and 12 VMOs, covering the vast majority of sub-specialities.  There is now a vacancy for an additional Staff Specialist position, with the chance for the successful candidate to build and develop their sub-speciality.

 

The Hospital

Albury Base Hospital is a 157-bed level four-five hospital and provides acute and community health care services to the surrounding community.

The Location

Albury and Wodonga are regional twin cities (popn 100,000) sitting on either side of the beautiful Murray River. Together they form a bustling community which supports a larger regional population of 250,000. Life here has a leisurely feel, where you can truly appreciate the big skies and wide open spaces, yet still enjoy all the benefits of urban life with a range of restaurants, cafes and shops. The Victorian Ski fields are within easy driving distance as well - water sports in the Summer, skiing in the winter. And with easy access to the big metro cities, it’s an ideal location.

 

The Murray River and the Albury-Wodonga region provides a vast array of lifestyle opportunities – its close to the Victoria snowfields as well as the beautiful vineyards and wine trails. With its strategic location in north east Victoria and southern NSW, it’s a perfect location that’s suitable for families of all ages.

 

Schooling is excellent with over 1,700 child care places, 32 pre-schools, 50 primary schools, 24 secondary schools, two universities and two TAFEs. Housing is also very affordable. There is an active cultural and arts scene, and a large number of different recreational and sporting venues, including freshwater fishing, boating, water skiing, golfing, as well as first class skiing in the wintertime.

 

The region enjoys a temperate mountain climate of four distinct seasons, including glorious summers easily reaching 30 degrees celsius and cool winters of around 14 degrees.
