The Role
You will have the clinical experience and skills in Otolaryngology to undertake a wide range of procedures, allied to an understanding and commitment to the principles of continuous quality improvement and review.
You will have the chance to both lead and to contribute as a team member in a multidisciplinary approach to service provision and have the opportunity to participate in teaching at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level.
The Hospital and Department
Rockhampton Hospital is the main referral hospital for Central Queensland, now providing integrated cancer care services in Central Queensland in the newly established building boasting state of the art medical equipment. The other primary hospitals within the health service are Gladstone, Emerald, Yeppoon and Biloela together with many smaller rural units transfer patients through to Rockhampton for specialist care and investigation.
The Hospital has recently gained accreditation for training in emergency medicine as well as being accredited for training in general surgery, anaesthetics, intensive care, general medicine, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology and psychiatry.
Department of Surgery: The Rockhampton Hospital has four operating theatres and two procedure rooms. The operating theatre complex is supported by a 6 bed ICU/HDU. The Department is accredited for specialist training and is heavily involved in teaching and research.
CQ Health performed 3496 elective surgeries during 2015-2016 which equates to 4% more elective surgeries delivered to Central Queenslanders. The theatre staff also delivered 2079 emergency surgeries. Including other procedures, the health service delivered a total of 7187 surgeries in its operating theatres.
