There is an opportunity for Consultant Paediatricians to join the Whangarei Child Health Services as it expands its work on community engagement and population health.

The Role

You will join a team of 7 full time paediatricians, one advanced trainee / fellow position, registrars, and senior house officers. There is no on call requirement, and variation in the job share would be considered.

The successful candidates would join a well-established community paediatric service with

  • Child Protection
  • Violence Intervention Program
  • Gateway assessments
  • Public Health team
  • Well established Children's Team

The Hospital

Whangarei Hospital is the largest hospital in Northland providing secondary care services, and offers the opportunity to expand your skills in response to the challenges of the local community. It is also supported by three small district hospitals in picturesque Bay of Islands (Kawakawa), Kaitaia and Dargaville.


Whangarei is called the “Meeting place of the Pacific” because of its many international yachting visitors and the Northland region boasts some of the most scenic and exciting coastal areas of NZ in a subtropical climate.
