We are seeking a Clinical Psychologist to provide a comprehensive service to older people affected by mental illness located in Manukau City, a half hour drive from Auckland.

Centrally located, Manukau is home to the second largest natural harbour in New Zealand popular for its fishing.  A great location where you can immerse yourself in the culture and enjoy the great outdoors - you can truly achieve that elusive work/life balance. For this role: you should have a minimum of two years’ experience working in an integrated service for older people affected by mental illness. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and provide psychological assessment, formulation and intervention.  The service itself includes a community team and an inpatient ward.  It is expected that the suitable candidate will be skilled in CBT however, the ability to incorporate other models of therapy would be advantageous.  You will also have the opportunity to engage in existing group work through facilitation and develop new ones.  There is a supportive culture and professional relationships are strong with opportunities to work with Psychology interns.

Manukau is the heart of South Auckland offering a vibrant cosmopolitan culture with street markets bursting with life!  There is something for everyone from Rainbow’s End, New Zealand’s largest theme park to the annual Pasifika Festival, a weekend-long food and culture event dedicated to the region's culture.  You will find a host of family activities from mini golf, paintball, rope courses and go karting!   If you are looking for a slower pace, why not visit the some of the Vineyards around the region or take a walk around the stunning Auckland Botanic Gardens and enjoy some of the cafes along the way.

Locals enjoy easy access to a fantastic untouched natural environment, from unspoiled beaches to wildlife sanctuaries.  Mount Eden dominated by a volcanic peak (Maungawhau) with hiking, and jogging trails leading to stunning views over the Hauraki Gulf.  With easy access to  Auckland airport;  international connections easy as well as making other domestic destinations such as Queenstown and the Bay of Islands easily accessible.
