The Electronic Patient Record (ePR) project team

The significance of the ePR Project and its impact on how Bendigo Health delivers patient care across the Loddon Mallee region in the future cannot be underestimated.  It will see Bendigo Health on par with other internationally leading healthcare providers, and is one elements of the Bendigo Hospital Project that sets it apart from all other recent Victorian hospital developments.

When delivered, the ePR System will interface with other related technologies in the new Bendigo Hospital and make a substantial contribution toward enabling Bendigo Health to deliver a world-class healthcare experience.

 

The Position

Bendigo Health is establishing the position of Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) in conjunction with the implementation of a new electronic Patient Record (ePR) system.

You will report on a day to day basis to the Chief Information Officer and collaborate closely with Executive, senior management staff and the ePR team, in leading and informing clinical and technical teams in clinical information systems process development.  Yours will be a medical leadership role in information technology and clinical analytics, and you will essentially serve as the bridge between medical staff, the ePR team and the ICT departments.  The ePR Project is sponsored by the CEO of Bendigo Health and you will have a remit to provide advice to the CEO on the progress of implementation the ePR and associated challenges and issues.

 

The Person

You will be a confident leader, politically savvy, and with a high tolerance for ambiguity who can work successfully in a matrix management model.  You will have a good understanding of trends in local, national and international information technologies as well as clinical workflows in both Inpatient and Outpatient settings, with the resultant interest in clinical information systems and outcomes measurement.

While your technical attributes will be key, at least as important will be your excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to serve as a liaison between clinical staff, the ICT department and projects, and executive leadership.

 

The Hospital

The new Bendigo Hospital Project, due for completion in June 2018 is the largest regional hospital development in Victoria. It has delivered a world-class regional hospital incorporating the latest design and technology solutions, in a tranquil and caring environment.

The new facility features:  372 inpatient unit beds, 72 same-day acute beds, an 80-bed integrated psychiatric inpatient unit (including a parent-infant unit), 11 operating theatres, a helipad, a regional integrated cancer centre, a multi-deck carpark, a 100-place childcare centre, a 128-room accommodation hotel, an affordable accommodation hub with 15 short-stay units, a conference facility plus retail shops and cafes.

Bendigo Health is a leading healthcare provider in regional Victoria, known for its high level of professionalism and its engagement with the community. With more than 3500 staff Bendigo Health has over 650 beds which treats over 42,000 in-patients, attends to 50,000 emergency cases and delivers approximately 1350 babies each year. In addition they have a 20 bed intensive care unit, an 80-bed integrated psychiatry facility and the operating theatres see almost 13,000 surgical procedures performed annually.
