An exciting unusual opportunity has become available in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, that would suit an adventurous and relatively experienced doctor.  I am working with a new private hospital who are developing the only cardiac surgery service in the country.  The hospital is in need of a cardiac anaesthetist, who can also offer some general anaesthetics, during quieter periods in the Cardiac service.  You will help to build and grow this service and will be working with other international doctors and a European Cardiac surgeon who has vast international experience of setting up new Cardiac services across Asia and Europe.  Port Moresby offers a tight-knit ex-pat community where life revolves around outdoor pursuits such as golfing, sailing, diving and socialising!  You are a short flight to other pacific Islands, such as Fiji within as little as 5 hours, so there should be an opportunity to explore more that this fascinating region has to offer.

The hospital’s package includes:

  • 3-year contract
  • Flight to and from home at the beginning and end of the contract
  • 1 x flight home per year
  • Housing in condo
  • Some support with utilities
  • Health insurance
  • Support with licensing, work permit costs
  • Transport
  • Medical indemnity insurance
  • Salary will be CIRCA 7500 – 9,000 USD per month equivalent, after taxes (depends on experience)
  • The adventure of a lifetime!

What are we looking for?

The hospital is looking for a specialist with significant Cardiac anaesthetics with suitable qualifications from their home country, along with a clean medical license.

PLEASE NOTE THAT APPLICANTS MUST SPEAK AND WRITE IN ENGLISH AT A FLUENT LEVEL.
