Anaesthetist - SMO
Applications are invited for suitably qualified Consultant Anaesthetists to join our Anaesthesia Department in Auckland.
We operate over 2 sites with 20 theatres, this includes our Elective Surgery Centre, and in 2024 our new Totara Haumauru theatres(8). We cover a wide range of clinical sub specialities (excluding Cardiothoracic, Vascular, Neurosurgery). We offer a large variety of clinical work, an Acute Pain Service, an Anaesthetic Preadmission Service and secondary Obstetric Units in both hospitals.
The successful candidates will have a broad scope of clinical skills. As a teaching hospital a commitment to teaching and continuing medical education is important, as is a strong focus on quality improvement, collegiality, continuing professional development and involvement in administration of departmental activities.
There is a significant acute workload, usually requiring specialist cover on site in the evenings and weekend days to support the Fellow, Registrar and Senior House Officers. This is covered by an on call roster.
FANZCA or equivalent is required, and registration with the New Zealand Medical Council is essential.
