ANAESTHETISTS
Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua in Palmerston North is seeking a Specialist Anaesthetist, both 12 month fixed term or permanent options available.
If successful you would participate in the full spectrum of anaesthesia services provided by this Department. The Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care provides a wide range of anaesthetic and intensive care services. The theatre complex consists of seven operating theatres, but is currently undergoing expansion to nine, plus use of a theatre at our private hospital. The department is staffed by 30 specialist anaesthetists, eight registrars in training posts and six senior house officers. We operate 2 separate on-call rosters for anaesthesia and intensive care.
Palmerston North is a busy secondary hospital providing some tertiary services.

There is a healthy private practice of anaesthesia in Palmerston North, and a half day off per week would be available for the appointees to the above position to pursue opportunities in this area.
Applicants must be eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
Palmerston North in the centre of the Manawatu is a beautiful location, with all modern services and luxuries expected of vibrant cities, including a shopping plaza, a Globe theatrical centre, the Regent and Centre Point theatres, and dozens of hotels/motels, giving Palmerston North a reputation as a conference hub. There are excellent restaurants and shops, and ample local opportunities for outdoor activities including mountain biking, tramping, fishing, hunting, and camping. Palmerston North has recently opened a lovely new cycle way and walkway across and along the Manawatu River, and there are plans for many more civic improvements over the next few years.
Palmerston North tertiary education is provided by Massey University and the International Pacific College. We have excellent primary, intermediate and secondary schooling, both public and private, mixed and single sex.
We are also an easy drive to the Tasman Sea, Hawkes Bay, Mount Taranaki, Mount Ruapehu, and Lake Taupo. Our airport has recently been expanded, and there are multiple flights every day to and from Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch. Cost of living is reasonable, housing is affordable, and rural living with stunning views only minutes from town is easily achievable.
