We are looking for a registered Adult Nurse RGN.

The Post holder will provide planned nursing care to surgical patients of all ages and care for their families. Participate in all aspects of patient care, enabling the highest standard of care to be provided for Adult and Paediatric patients attending Ward One / HDU / DSU. This will also involve managing and organising work as required. There will be the frequent need to take charge of the ward.

The post holder is required to become competent in extended nursing skills eg Venepuncture, Cannulation, ECG and IV Drug Administration.  The post holder may undertake the role of link nurse eg nutritional link nurse role, tissue viability link nurse role.

There is an expectation to rotate to the day surgery unit.  This post also carries an on-call commitment. You may also be required to work in other areas of the organisation, either hospital or community based, dependant on organisational need.

Requirements:

  • Valid NMC registration
  • PVG membership (within the last 12 months)
  • Two references dated in the last 12 months
  • Three forms of ID, one of which should be proof of the right to live and work in the UK, one should be photographic and one proof of current address. 
  • Return travel (from within the UK) will be booked and paid for by the board
  • Single board accommodation will be provided

 

Shetland Islands:

The scenic Shetland Islands are situated at the far north of Scotland in the North Atlantic between Great Britain, The Faroe Islands and Norway.  Shetland stretches around a hundred miles from north to south and its nearest neighbour is Orkney 50 miles away.  Due to the warm ocean current Shetland is much milder than other places on the same latitude.
