The University of Auckland’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is New Zealand’s pre-eminent academic Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department, with a longstanding track record of world-class clinical research (particularly in Maternal-Foetal Medicine).
In order to further advance already flourishing research in Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) and to enhance existing clinical expertise, they are seeking an Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer in MFM to join their vibrant team.
In partnership with Auckland District Health Board (ADHB), the University of Auckland recognise the importance of clinical research and academic leadership in the MFM service. This role will capitalise on the strengths of both organizations to expand their academic programme with the aim of improving the health of both mothers and babies.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is based at Auckland City Hospital, which has a catchment population of approximately 1 million people. There are more than 7000 births annually at Auckland City Hospital (ADHB) and 20,000 city-wide.
Considering the scope of this role, it’s essential you are an Obstetrician & Gynaecologist with subspecialty qualifications in Maternal Fetal Medicine who is also passionate about research and research-led teaching. Your experience in Maternal Fetal Medicine research should be backed by an appropriate qualification (PhD, MD or equivalent) and the ability to obtain New Zealand medical registration.
ADHB is the largest and busiest MFM service in New Zealand, currently comprised of a team of five MFM specialists with a range of subspecialty interests.
