If you’re looking for a new challenge and the chance to work in a unique, world-class medical and research centre then it may well be worth considering a move to the Gulf.

In early 2015, Qatar will be opening the pre-eminent Women and Children’s Healthcare Centre in the region. An ultra-modern, all-digital facility, this brand new hospital will provide world-class patient care, with a strong focus on developing Qatar’s scientific expertise and resources. Affiliated with a leading American University (which has a campus in Doha), this will be a centre of both clinical and academic excellence. To this end, the hospital recently partnered with the Excellence in Paediatrics Institute to bring their flagship conference to the Middle East for the first time. Over 1,500 paediatric professionals from more than 90 countries attended this event at the end of last year to learn the latest techniques and collectively improve the quality of paediatric care at a global level.

The hospital requires highly experienced Consultants with an active interest in teaching and/or research who have undertaken, and completed, their higher specialist training in Western Europe, USA, Canada, or Australasia. The intention is to bring Doctors and their families on board in the latter part of 2014 in order to establish a strong foundation and infrastructure before the centre officially opens to patients.

Qatar is located on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula, and with an area of 11,437 sq. km it’s fairly small in land mass (roughly half the size of Wales). In 2010, Qatar had the world's highest GDP per capita, while the economy grew by 19.4%, the fastest in the world. The main source of Qatar’s wealth is its vast reserves of natural gas which have made it one of the wealthiest countries in the world. Qatar is pressing ahead with ambitious social, economic and infrastructure development plans and will invest tens of billions of pounds in developing its infrastructure over the next 10 years. Rapid population growth is driving demand for accommodation (both residential and commercial) and medical and education services. The country provides a safe and family-friendly expatriate lifestyle, with an excellent range of shops, restaurants, museums, cultural events, world class universities and social and sporting clubs and facilities.
